Phantom Blade Zero on PC: requirements, DLSS, Denuvo and release time
Phantom Blade Zero PC requirements from Steam, DLSS 4.5 and path tracing support per NVIDIA, Denuvo, the 28 vs 29 October release date and what is still unconfirmed.

Phantom Blade Zero is a single-player action game from S-GAME, and its Steam page lists a Windows PC release. Before launch week, you probably want to know whether your PC can run it, which upscaling tools it supports and when it actually unlocks. This guide uses only the official Steam page, NVIDIA's driver announcement and the game's own site, and it says clearly where information is still missing.
Release date: 28 or 29 October?
The sources do not agree on the day, so here is exactly what each says:
- Steam shows the release date as 28 Oct, 2026.
- NVIDIA says the game launches on October 28th.
- The official site (pbz.s-game.com) shows 10/29/2026.
A time zone difference is a plausible explanation. Steam's page data carries a release timestamp that works out to 02:00 UTC on 29 October. That is 10:00 on 29 October in China (UTC+8), 03:00 on 29 October in central Europe (CET), and the evening of 28 October in the Americas: 22:00 Eastern and 19:00 Pacific. Steam does not show that hour on the visible page, and we found no launch time published by S-GAME, so treat the hour as unconfirmed. Safest plan: expect it to unlock late on 28 October in the Americas and on 29 October elsewhere, and check the Steam page on the day.
Steam lists the game for Windows only, with full controller support. It lists no Mac or Linux version.
Official PC requirements
Steam lists two tiers. Both need Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), DirectX 12, 16 GB of RAM and an SSD. Installing on a hard drive is not supported.
Minimum (1080p at 30 FPS with upscaling enabled):
- CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600
- RAM: 16 GB
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 6 GB or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8 GB
Recommended (1440p at 60 FPS with upscaling enabled):
- CPU: Intel Core i5-10600K or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
- RAM: 16 GB
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12 GB
Notice that even the minimum target assumes upscaling is on. These are the publisher's targets, not measured results, and we have no independent benchmarks of the finished game yet. If you are unsure how your card compares, our guide to choosing a graphics card by resolution and the resolution FPS estimator can help you judge what to expect. The 8 GB cards on the list are a reason to read how much VRAM you need for gaming.
Ray tracing and path tracing tiers
Steam does not list a ray tracing or path tracing requirement tier. S-GAME has not shown those tiers on Steam, and we did not find them on the official site or in NVIDIA's post, so we are not printing any hardware numbers for them. Some outlets have quoted specific GPUs for these tiers, but we could not trace them to an official page.
What is confirmed is the feature itself. NVIDIA says the game's path-traced lighting and effects are further refined by DLSS Ray Reconstruction on GeForce RTX GPUs. Path tracing is a heavy, more complete form of ray tracing, so expect it to cost a lot of performance. For the general trade-off, read ray tracing: when it is worth the performance cost.
DLSS and other upscaling
According to NVIDIA, owners of GeForce RTX cards get DLSS 4.5 with Dynamic Multi Frame Generation in Phantom Blade Zero, and Ray Reconstruction is used to clean up path-traced images. NVIDIA recommends its Game Ready 621.01 WHQL driver, available through the NVIDIA app or GeForce.com.
The Steam requirements say upscaling is expected, but they do not name the technologies. We found no official statement about AMD FSR or Intel XeSS support in the game, so we are not claiming either. Check the in-game graphics menu after launch. Our DLSS, FSR and XeSS explainer covers what each mode does, and frame generation and input latency explains why generated frames help smoothness more than responsiveness, which matters in a game built around precise dodges and counters.
Denuvo
Steam's page states that the game incorporates third-party DRM: Denuvo. This is anti-tamper software that runs alongside the game. Steam does not give details such as activation limits or performance impact, so we will not guess. Just keep your Steam account signed in and your drivers current.
What is not confirmed
- Install size and preload: Steam shows no storage figure, and we found no official preload information. Do not clear space based on rumors. When a number appears, our game download time calculator will tell you how long it takes on your connection.
- Steam Deck: Valve has not rated the game. Steam's compatibility check returned no category for it.
- Path tracing hardware tiers: Not published on Steam, as covered above.
Launch week checklist
- Confirm you have an SSD with plenty of free space, since an SSD is required.
- Update your graphics driver using our guide to updating graphics drivers safely. On GeForce, NVIDIA names 621.01 for this game.
- If you have an 8 GB card, consider keeping the textures one step lower until you see how it behaves.
- Expect first-launch shader work and read about shader compilation stutter if it feels rough.
- Check Resizable BAR only if the publisher or your GPU maker recommends it. Nothing we read says this game needs it.
- Check the Steam page on launch day for the final unlock time and any updated requirements.
